Brief History
MSSN, Mushin Area Council was culled out of old Ikeja Area Council in 1980. Then, it started functioning as an Area Council with its secretariat at Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Iyana Isolo. During this period, Mushin Area Council comprised 57 Secondary School branches, 2 Central branches and 1 higher Institution. The two central branches were Itire Ikate and Mushin while the Higher Institution is College of Medicine University of Lagos and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (CMUL/LUTH) though CMUL/LUTH branch started functioning in the late 80’s. The old Mushin Area Council comprised of the now Oshodi, Isolo, and some parts of Surulere. For administrative convenience, Lagos State Area Unit created Oshodi, Isolo and Surulere Area Councils in 1993. As a result, LASPOTECH fell under Isolo Area Coucil. Therefore Mushin had to move its secretariat to CMUL/LUTH Mosque, Vegetable garden, Idi Araba. Itire/Ikate Central branch equally fell under Surulere Area Council.
